For our purposes, then, the literature of the Upper South includes selections by writers from Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Arkansas. The literature of the Lower South includes work by writers from South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas/5(2).
